Today I am happy. Here are a few reasons why... it's Friday, we have no plans for the weekend, it's warming up outside, the cats were cuddled together in one cat bed today, I had a great lunch, my hair is nice today, a good friend sent me an e-card, my husband loves me, my parents love me, my in-laws probably even love me, work isn't stressing me out, two good songs came on the radio in a row, I'm going to have a new niece or nephew, the window is open and it's not cold, and the list goes on... What's making you happy today?

Congrats to my mom! She just got her own official website up and running! It still has some little glitches (once you navigate away from the home page, you can't get back to it with the link provided), but it's still really awesome! Check it out here.
What a great weekend we had! It started out on Friday evening when we joined a bunch of our city friends at a Legion for the evening. It was hilarious! We were definately the minority in that place, with about 80% of the population being people over 70. The evening started with a meat draw. Yes, a meat draw. Tickets could be purchased for one of four draws, each with about 6 or 7 packages of fresh meat up for grabs. This was hysterical - but no one from our table won anything. We heckled the people that were winning, and it was all quite funny. They also had a 50/50 draw, and another draw for a basket of all types of Irish liquors. Some of us played shuffle board, but mostly we just sat around and chatted. Ryan's old friend Tanya showed up as well, because she is friends with a girl from that group. Small world! Later in the evening we got to hear the musical stylings of an old-timer band called the Classix (see pics below). Those old folks could really dance! Wow! They polka'd and waltzed the night away. One particular couple had some of us nearly in tears. The wife could hardly walk anymore, with out her cane, and sat at a table crocheting. When the music started, her husband helped her to the dance floor - and away they went! She could still dance! It was so beautiful to watch them, and they were really, really good dancers too. People kept coming up to them to tell them what a joy they were to watch. Totally heart-warming.
Saturday was really pretty uneventful. I did a litte house cleaning, but mostly we just hung out at home. In the evening we watched "Good Night, and Good Luck". For me it was a little slow, and boring. Guess I'm not that into history and politics.
On Sunday I taught Sunday School in the morning - and we combined three classes, so I had about 10 kids. That was great! I really enjoyed the group. Church was excellent too - good worship, and a great guest speaker. We had lunch at Wilson's Grill in Morris with my parents, and then went back to their place to play a few rounds of Texas Hold 'Em. I won! Yahoo! We headed home just in time to change, and get picked up by Ryan's parents for supper at Bailey's in Winnipeg. It was an awesome supper! I had Alaskan King Crab legs, and they were amazing! I've never had better. After supper we went to the Concert Hall to see the Rusalka (Ukrainian) Dancers. They were fantastic! The upbeat music and incredible dance moves were great entertainment.

Well, what do ya know?! Another weekend is upon us! My weekend starts out this evening with a trip to Winnipeg with Terrilee and Rebekah. Our plan is to hit VV Boutique (Value Village) and shop-till-we-drop. Hopefully the freezing rain will hold out for us so that we aren't stranded in the city for the night. Then again, that might be fun! Ryan will be going to a Promise Keepers Convention at Church of the Rock, together with my dad, my brother, three uncles and two cousins. Sounds like it will be a rockin' evening!
Tomorrow Ryan and I are going in to the city to the Home Expressions Show, and then to my cousin's social in the evening. I'm looking forward to it - it should be a good time.
I don't think we have any Sunday plans, except church, and then relaxing and spending time together. What are you doing this weekend?

Yesterday was Ryan's dad's birthday, so we went out for supper to Trucker's Paradise (yup, that is really the name of the restaurant) to celebrate. My parents also came out with us. I used to work as a waitress in this very restaurant, and it just happens to be the place where Ryan and I originally started hanging out...

A Random Memory by Heather: I once worked as a journalist for a local paper. It was my job to write reports for the town of Rosenort. My first week on the job I was thrown into a Provincial-wide News bite when a local man's dog pulled a decaying man's arm up from the river. I was second on the scene, and was surrounded by TV News teams, and forensic scientists. Lucky for me, I had a friend who was a camera man for one of the local TV stations, and he introduced me to the News anchor, who got us in "behind the scenes". Kelly Dehn was there too! It was a pretty awesome start to a rather lousy career as a journalist. I even got the front page of the paper that week! Eventually they found an entire body of man by the river, who was dumped there after being murdered by his buddy in a drunken rage. Anyway, just a quick Heather Memory for ya.

Okay, so today my dad is listening to some kind of new CD that he got (I believe it's actually a CD by my cousin Trevor Olfert). Anyway - every time I walk by his office I feel like I've entered a new country. First Egpyt, then Italy, and right now I feel like I'm in some Zen Garden in China. Interesting.
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, chocolate in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO what a ride!'"
