Action Packed Plett Life

Welcome to a day in the lives of our little Plett family...

Nothing cheers me up like dancing. I love dancing - even if it means just cutting it loose in my kitchen. Since the decline of weekend clubbing, and the lack of weddings with good dancing in my life, I have to find ways of getting in my moves. This has been one of the perks of Ryan not being home at lunch hour. If I'm having a down day, I can throw in any of my own personal CDs (without him complaining about how terrible the music is) and just dance to my heart's content! Faves this week have been Whigfield's old classic "Sexy Eyes", as well as anything by the Black Eyed Peas, and my Jump5 Remixed CD. Yes, Jump5.

For the many who have already requested the recipe for Sour Cream Cookies, here it is:

White Sour Cream Cookies

Ingredients
3 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sour cream
6 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt

Beat shortening, and then add sugar and beat until creamy. Add eggs and then the rest of the ingredients, except for the flour. Stir in flour slowly, just until mixed. Dust counter top, rolling pin and dough with flour, and roll out thick (about 1/4" - 3/8"). Cut into shapes and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Top with frosting, *decorate and enjoy!

*Traditional decorations include vanilla icing, topped with red sugar, or pink tinted vanilla icing topped with coconut.

My mom has finally updated her blog with some of her more recent, and contemporary art. I really like the new style she's taken up - it's great! She was recently at a big art show with her new line of stuff, and sold three times as much as she's ever sold before! Way to go mom!

Sour Cream Cookies were this weekend's Christmas baking project. They sure make the house smell delicious. Thanks to my co-worker Joce for the recipe.

Ready to devour!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my faithful American bloggers!

My mom taught me how to make some of her famous Christmas chocolates this weekend. These are Peanut Butter Balls, and we also made...

... chocolate-covered cherries! Yum!

Peeking Puss.

I love the heavy-laden trees!

Kitty and I enjoying the warm indoors.

Here is our place this morning, looking all cozy in the snow. Yesterday afternoon the power went out, and we shut down the shop and went home early. The power didn't come back on until after 5:00, but it was nice to enjoy a very quiet, candlelit evening at home.

When the white stuff comes, it comes with gusto! I believe we got almost 8 inches, and it's still coming down. However, the forecast is calling for 3C (37F) on Friday! That will be messy.

I think I'll call this one "Plastered".

We bought out Target and Bath & Body Works on the weekend.

I didn't take a lot of pics on the weekend. As this pic shows, we spent a lot of time just hanging out when we weren't shopping like crazy.

Only my brother would send a link like this one: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/faintinggoats.html

It's official - we got the white stuff today!

I'm pumped to be spending this long weekend in Grand Forks with four amazing women. Our Bible Study group is heading out for a girls weekend out tomorrow. Robin Fehr, Jeryn Peters, Sherisse Brandt, Amy Loewen and I will be whooping it up for a weekend of shopping, eating, movies, and hot tubbing. I can't wait!

I feel badly for leaving Ryan at home by himself this weekend, and I'm going to miss him. These days he leaves the house before I get up, and is home after 6:00 every day. We are due for a date night I think! Hopefully he will enjoy the quiet, and find some time to work on projects that I would otherwise distract him from. Sometimes a weekend home alone is good for the soul. he may head out with a friend to a Moose game, and do some other "guy" stuff.

Today is my mom's 50th birthday! Below I've posted a few photos as a small tribute to my mom. I love her so much!

Happy 50th Birthday Mom!

Hottie! Lookin' good mom!

The beautiful bride, 1978.

I love you mom, thank you for always taking care of me!

Is it just me, or are there some similarities between Emily and I? Just put Em in a pink lacey dress, curl her bangs - and voila! She'd look like Auntie Heather.

Blasts from the Past (1987-88)...

Ryan Plett - Ryan loves to play hockey which takes up most of his time in winter. He is very sportsminded. In the summer he loves to play baseball, and is a talented golfer.

and friend Jeremy Hiebert...

Jeremy Hiebert - muscular polite athletic brain dirtbike racer

and brother Steve Plett...

Stephen Plett - Stephen enjoys nature and anything that has to do with the military. He draws and sketches a lot in his spare time. His dream is to become a helicopter pilot.

If you thought I looked silly in that webcam photo, check out this pic taken when I was just a mere 6 years old, my brother Matt was 4.

This pic (1989) was taken just a year before Ryan would graduate from High School. Can you imagine us dating back then? The scandal!

I don't know how Ang does it, but somehow she blackmailed me into putting that silly webcam picture up on a Katie Holmes Look-A-Like website. I don't know why I complied - it's not like she was holding a gun to my head or anything. Anyway, it doesn't look like the rest of the world agrees that I look like Katie Holmes, but thanks anyway Ang!
