A Tale about a Toot
Once upon a time, on a rainy Saturday afternoon, while their infant son was napping, a husband and wife peacefully sat on their futon watching Tournament Poker to kill time. Rudely interrupting the serenity, the husband lets out a powerful burst of flatulent air. Without a word, the wife gets up to leave the room.
What should the husband say?
a.) "Excuse me, please!"
b.) "Pardon me."
c.) "Oh! Sorry!"
d.) "Hey - it won't stink!"
In this particular circumstance, the husband says confidently, "Hey - it won't stink". Wife bursts out laughing, and still leaves the room.
The End
Ahhhhh, I am laughing out loud at work. sounds familiar, well not the infant son sleeping part ;)
I don't really think it's a scam in the sense that they are going to rob you. More in the sense that they are going to put you in a high-pressure situation to try and sell you a vacuum. We had the same thing (although I'm not so sure the phone survey was that detailed) where they had a "gift" to give us and just wanted to come and do a "short" presentation (which ended up being two hours). They were extremely pushy and rude and insulted us and just wanted us to buy this incredibly expensive vacuum (which, btw, you can get on ebay for a fraction of the price). They stayed way longer than they said the would and the gift sucked. So my advice would be to tell them to shove it next time they call. Oh, and as far as them not calling back, we've had friends who had the same thing where they just didn't show. But really they are just selling expensive vacuums. Don't bother. It's a HUGE waste of time!
Just to let you know that we had the same thing happen last summer. My husband did the survey, etc. Then when they showed up with the free gift at the door, they let us know that they needed to do a presentation first, so they basically pushed their way inside, started making themselves at home, while we were trying to finish dinner!!! When asked to leave, the man became quite rude, called me a racist because he was hispanic. Then a few weeks later we had another call from the same company. I made it very clear to them that they had better not ever call us again and thankfully that was the end of it. So I don't think you have to worry about them being burgulars, however, they will try to rip you off with their expensive vaccuums and they will try anything to get you to listen to their presentation.
