Weather is a funny thing. For the last month we've had nothing but rain, and cold, dreary weather. Suddenly, as if over night, we now have an entire week forecasted to be hot, hot, hot! A high today for +28, and tomorrow a high of +31! Maybe we will finally be able to get into Frank & Jeanne's pool this summer, and who knows - maybe Ryan will have to go air conditioner shopping after all.
This weekend was a fairly relaxing one. On Saturday was my birthday, and we spent the morning sleeping in, and then headed to Wilson's Grill for brunch with my brother. The afternoon was really laid back, we just spent most of the day at home. Later in the evening, we headed into the city for Sam and Cherry's post-wedding party. It was a good time - got to see a lot of people. Ryan was once again surprised to find out how many people actually come and read this blog! It's a good thing, I love it! Sunday was another perfect sleep-in day, and we slept until Ang called around 11:00. Again, we puttered around the yard all day, and went for a nice motorcycle ride in the late afternoon. We had supper at C.K.'s, and after gorging ourselves on the buffet, we spent the rest of the evening bumming around at home. Darryl showed up around 9:30, and I served him and Ryan a nice cold Old Milwaukee on the driveway. He got a tour of the house, and seemed relatively impressed. And thus ended our weekend.
To any of you out-of-towners that might be around for a few more days: Ryan and I love drop-ins, so please, if you are in town, come by our place.
I was just chatting this morning on MSN Messenger with a friend of mine, Chad. He is currently in China with his dad, who is working on setting up a window plant there (like Loewen windows). He sent me this picture, which is making me totally jealous. I think it's time to head to China.

I got a new driver's license photo taken today, and it doesn't suck! Amazing! I think I can happily live with this one for a few years. My last was one was the most awful photo ever taken of me.
What an "action-packed" weekend we had! It all began on Thursday night when Ryan and I froze our butts off at the first regular season Bomber game. It was frigid, and a lot of the crowd left early, as did we.
On Friday night, Ryan went to the airport to pick up Steve, Ang and Emily who arrived around 10:30p.m. They came as for a surprise visit for Father's Day. They got to our place after midnight, and despite fatigue from travelling, they still took a late night tour of the renovated house. They were quite thrilled to see the changes! Especially Emily!
On Saturday was the Rosenort Festival, of which I was a part of planning. There was a great free breakfast in the morning, followed by a pretty decent parade. There was baseball and kids activities all afternoon, including a VERY awesome magic show where even I was impressed. The young magician's name was Corey Oake, and he was really, really good. The show started as loud music boomed throughout the arena, and Corey walked out wearing a sleek suit of all black with red trim. He did a few tricks with a red handkerchief, and then threw it into the air - where it seemed to magically turn into a red dove that flew around the arena, and then into a cage. He did about six tricks, all ending with the appearance of a red dove. Finally, he took out an egg, and acted as though he was going to throw it on the ground. Instead, the egg crumbled in his hand and "turned into" a little white bird. Really cool! His final trick was the best though. He took the cage with all six red doves in it, and put a blanket over it. He then picked up the cage, walked out near the audience, and threw the cage up into the air. The cage seemed to vanish under the blanket, and all that fell from the air was the empty blanket and some red confetti. I was astounded. At lunch time, we surprised Frank with Steve, Ang and Emily's appearance, and then took off to a wedding in Lowe Farm. All in all it was an eventful, busy day.
On Sunday we spent some time relaxing at our place with our guests, and then headed over to Frank and Jeanne's for the annual Father's Day gathering at their house. It was a windy day, but despite slightly chilly weather, the kids were able to swim. My parents also joined us there, and we all had a really great time.
I took the day off on Monday to spend more time with Ang and Emily. All of the girls, including my mom, went to the Forks, and spent all day there. We had a lot of fun. We then met up with all the men at Earls, and celebrated a couple of birthdays.
It was a great weekend. Steve, Ang and Em left back home today. We are really going to miss them! Guess we wait until Christmas to see them again.

Well, (knock on wood) the weather is looking good for the weekend! I can't hardly wait to spend a weekend in the SUN. Work is a little slow today, so to end the day slightly quicker I decided to take some time to blog.
Why do guys (and girls too, but today it's a guy thing) do such dumb things sometimes? Just plain old, stupid, immature... DUMB things?! This guy I work with has been making a ball of leftover vinyl for about a month now. At first no one really cared much about it, and then ball started to grow. It wouldn't bother me, except that this stupid ball is now becoming a shrine over which this particular co-worker of mine seems to be constantly gloating. He calls it his "stress ball", and he takes it everywhere he goes while walking around the shop. Annoying. So today Robin hid it in the ladies bathroom (which is almost equally as immature as having made the ball, but who cares, it's out of sight), so obviously she has been equally irked by the vinyl ball shrine. He hasn't actually seemed to notice that it is missing, but when he does - the @#$* will fly!

Good news about the search for a new couch! Ryan and I spent a day couch shopping last week, and found a new set (one that should fit down our stairs) that we really like. Thanks to my friend Terrilee, who reminded me that with the couch we orginally bought I would have been CONSTANTLY arranging and fluffing all the pillows for the backrest. She is so right! So we bought a leather couch (to ward off Kitty hair) with the back rest pillows ATTACHED (for less propping-frustration). I'm getting really excited to see the set in the basement, which is also coming together like a charm. Ryan has been putting on the moldings, baseboards and trim, and it just looks fantastic. I can't believe that it started out as a gutted cement hole. We've also been thoroughly enjoying our new hardwood floors, and right now it seems that our yard might almost be under some level of control as well (the weeds have been mowed down). Things are looking good for the summer!
As some of you may know, I have held the position of Treasurer on the Rosenort Chamber of Commerce this year. One of our main events for the year is to plan the Rosenort Festival, and Business Expo. It's been quite a challenge, as all our committee members are very busy people, and our President is a trucker who has been planning the event primarily from his cell phone on the road in Texas. However, it all seems to be coming together for this weekend, and I'm getting pretty excited about it. Even the weather is looking good. All we'll have to do is find a way to fight the mosquitos - which are awful by the way. Check out our fabulous newspaper ad.
I felt a little guilty about my last quiz, so here is a new one. This one encompasses both Ryan and my interests. Enjoy! (It's so fun to do, you should do one!)
So we thought we had finally seen the last of the rain, but we were mistaken. It seems as though it has rained almost every day for the last few weeks. We have been given a glimmer of hope by a few warm days in between. However, just when we think it may have dried up enough to mow, or spray for weeds, it rains again. Unfortunately, this is not only affecting us, but the farmers as well. Many of the local farmers have acres of unseeded land, and many of them also have land that needs to be re-seeded because the rain has washed the seed away. Puddles of sitting water are also perfect for mosquitos, and it looks like they will be abundant this year if we don't spray. Hopefully we will see some summer weather before it is too late.
On Thursday our new basement furniture was delivered to our house, which I was really excited about. This however also turned in to somewhat of a tragedy. We never took into any consideration the fact that the furniture would have to fit down our stairway into the basement - we just assumed we would be able to get it down someway or another. Well, the couch just absolutely would not go down. It was too long. We were told later on that this 91" couch was particularly long. So we are again shopping furniture, but we are disappointed to still have an incomplete basement with no furniture. Hopefully we will find something so wonderful that we will be thankful that the other stuff didn't work out.
