Action Packed Plett Life

Welcome to a day in the lives of our little Plett family...

Hi! We're back from a our wonderful trip to B.C. It's really nice to be back, although I will miss the lovely mountain views, and the ocean. I don't know how much I can recap today, but once I get our pictures developed, I will give a better trip report. We flew to Saskatoon, and met up with Steve, Ang and Emily there before the Pixies concert. Ken and Loni had supper with Ryan and I, and upon discovering that the smoking by-laws in SK do not cover public venues, I passed my ticket on to Ken. Sunday morning we flew to Kelowna, where it was sunny and beautiful. We spent some time with Gerald and Diane, and then went over to Jer and Tanis's. We were glad to see them, and it was really fun to spend time with Ivy and Ella who are both at really neat ages. We also saw Myron, Tracey and Elijah - who is a sweet little babe. After a couple days in Kelowna we headed out to Vancouver for a couple of days - where I finally was able to see the Pixies in a non-smoking venue! On Friday we made the trek out to Powell River, which includes a ride a two ferries. It was a neat experience. We were happily greeted in Powell River by Steve, Ang and Emily, and had a fabulous time touring the area with them for three days. Then came the trek back to Kelowna, which we did in one long, nine hour trip. Back in Kelowna (Summerland) we hung out with Jer and Tan, Myron and Tracey, and then spent the night at Gerald and Diane's before flying back home yesterday. You can catch a glimpse of us in Summerland on Jer's site.

Today is my last day of work before we take off to B.C.! I am really excited, because we will be meeting up with Steve, Ang and Emily on Sunday in Saskatoon. Can't wait to see them!

We ordered flooring this week for our house, which is going to be installed after we get back from our trip. Last night Ryan pulled the rug out of the livingroom, and discovered this awesome linoleum underneath. Maybe we should skip the hardwood laminate, and keep it!

A few days ago, when I got home from work, Ryan was all excited about a cool bird he had seen in the yard. He had dug out the video camera and took a few pictures of it. It was so cute, I just had to post his pics!

Just four more days until Ryan and I are off on our April adventure. I am looking forward to it so much! It really hasn't been that long since our last vacation, but it seems like forever - especially when that travel bug bites.

We make our flight from Winnipeg to Saskatoon on Saturday morning. Ironically, we had been trying to get a hold of my cousin, Ken Quiring, who married us, to get his mailing address. He called us last night, without knowing that we had been trying to contact him, because he needed OUR mailing address. In any case, it just so happens that he will be in Saskatoon on Saturday afternoon, so Ryan and I will be having coffee with him, his wife and kids. Should be nice to catch up since the wedding, and now there is no need to spend any money on postage.

Saturday night in Saskatoon is the big Pixies concert. Although I don't think the realization has set in for Ryan that he will actually be seeing them, I know that he is going to be totally stoked! I am not a big Pixies fan at all, but I am really excited to be there with Ryan when he sees them, because I know how great it's going to be for him. I believe Steve and Ang will also be there, but who knows if we'll track each other down in the crowd.

Sunday afternoon we will one again take to the air and be off to Kelowna. I love flying over the mountains, although someday I would love to drive through them. Ryan says he's tired of making that drive, and I don't blame him, but if we ever have kids - we're driving it. I'm not sure where we'll head first when we get to Kelowna, possibly straight to Summerland to see our friends. The week doesn't have too many set plans, just to relax, spend time with people, and make the treck out to Powell River to see Steve and Ang's new place - and of course - Emily!!! I've always had a great time with Ryan's friends, and I don't feel at all out of the loop, or even "too young". B.C. is such a beautiful place, if Ryan wanted to move out there, I don't think I would argue. Maybe we could get Gerald & Dianne's place! Ha!

Just a few pics from around the house yesterday.

Wow! I just walked to and from the Post Office wearing nothing but a t-shirt! What a beautiful day. Unfortunately, the forecast isn't looking good for the next week at all.

Ryan and I went to see my friend Dean Harder perform with his Improv group, The Cross Eyed Rascals, on Friday night. They performed at the Prairie Theatre Exchange at Portage Place. It was a good show, and we had a few good laughs. They had a special guest comedian who was also pretty funny. I look forward to seeing Dean on the big screen someday. By that, I mean to actually see his face close up on the big screen, as he has been an extra in a couple of flicks (K-19: The Widowmaker, Driven) already.

I can hardly believe that it's just another 12 days before we leave for B.C.! I can hardly wait! On Saturday I called Ang and talked to her briefly - they were just on their way out the door. We said a quick good bye, and I hung up. Two minutes later the phone rang. I picked up, and all I could hear was sniffling and Emily choked out, "Hader, I wanted to TALK to you!". I guess she wasn't going to go anywhere until she got to talk to me. Ang must have been telling her that she had to hang up the phone soon, because after talking for a few minutes she said, "Hold on... Mom, Hader has a LOT of things she needs to tell me!". Very cute, and very funny!

We have so many friends and family that have not yet been able to come and see our house. I took some pics today so that you can finally see our humble home.

• Kitchen
• Our bedroom
• Bathroom
• Ryan's office
• The blue room
• Livingroom (soon to be diningroom)

And of course, a picture of the cat.

Today I noticed that the river by our place made some interesting patterns as it broke up. The water has overflowed the banks, as it does every year, but the ice has split down the middle, following the line of the river. I just had to take some pics so that I could link them!
