Action Packed Plett Life

Welcome to a day in the lives of our little Plett family...

Okay, Maui vacation trip report... where do I begin? Let's begin with the seven hour flight from Maui to Seattle. We left Seattle on Thursday, December 23 in the late afternoon. As we were flying over the Rockies, I caught this beautiful shot from the plane. After the long journey across the ocean, we arrived at the Kahului airport around dinner time - we were ahead by four hours in Hawaii.

The view from our room was lovely, and from our balcony I could watch gorgeous sunsets (this one is taken from the beach), and often saw whales in the ocean. The first few days were spent mostly on the lawn, tanning, reading, and doing crossword puzzles in newspapers from around the world (the greatest accomplishment being to finish the New Yorks Times one). We spent one afternoon at Makena beach, but we did not go to see the nude side of it! The waves were really nice there, perfect for the boogie-boarders.

One of the highlights of the trip was having a chocolate soufflé at Roy's restaurant with the whole group. I shared one with Margaret, because trying to share one with Ryan is impossible. He eats it in a very particular manner, and it is a serious offence to mess up his method. We also had a cool dessert at Nick's - a restaurant at our hotel.

On another day of exploring, Ryan and I headed to the north shore to catch some surfing. It was a beautiful day, and we had a great time. There are so many beautiful things to see out there, including plants and animal life.

The main highlight of thr trip for me was the helicopter tour we went on. It was fantastic, and my pictures hardly do it justice, but here are a couple of the best ones. This is a shot of the Haleakala crater. This one is taken in a valley at the Wall of Tears. We did some other exploring that day, and found this awesome quilt in a small mountain town. The quilt was not for sale!

There are so many more photos and stories I'd like to include, but I'll end there. Hopefully we can spend some time with you in person and tell you all about it.
