Anyone who knows me will tell you that I love pets. I love having pets, I love other people's pets, and I dream about all the different pets I want. I like any and all species, breeds, colours... you name it, I love it! Well, with the exception of big dogs that JUMP up, and small rodents. I love my cat, Kitty. Ryan and I have spent many hours laughing at his hilarious antics. We are pretty sure he is "special needs", but we love him anyway. My greatest attachment though was to my pet dog, Max. We got Max when I was in grade four, and put him down just about three years ago. I loved that dog so much - he was awesome. So, when a co-worker of mine bought her daughters a puppy that looks just like Max, I offered to "puppy-sit" anytime. My opportunity finally came up this week, and I am taking care of "Gypsy" today and tomorrow. Ryan is getting worried, as he does not share my love for dogs at all. He likes them so little, he has gone to the point of saying he'd rather have a BABY than a dog! So I figure I should really start begging for a dog now...
Ah, self control. After watching Myron and Tracey's slideshows of Elijah, seeing the cute pics that Jer and Tanis have on their site of Ivy and Ella, watching in awe as Terrilee and Brent experience all the new wonders of pregnancy, hearing through the grapevine that my cousins are expecting... a girl like me, who has always longed for motherhood, really begains to feel that maternal instinct kicking in. Now I realize we've only been married for 6 months, and we have a few things to accomplish before we start a family, but I'll tell ya - I'm ready to get to it tonight.
We had a pretty good weekend I would say. On Saturday we slept in until the cat woke us up, and had a leisurley morning. It was raining quite a bit, and I decided it would be the perfect kind of day to pull out the Mennonite in me and try baking buns for the first time. The theme of my venture was "Patience", as you have to let bun dough rise three times and I was not going to be stingy with the time I would allow for this. I was determined to make good buns. Each time that I went back to check on the dough, it was getting bigger and fluffier, and I was so excited. I made Ryan come and see it each time, and he politely congratulated me although he had no clue what all the excitement was about. At the end of the day I accomplished my task, and make 2 dozen perfectly wonderful buns - although slightly under-baked - but totally eatable, and quite delicious.
In the meantime, Ryan and I began the project of organizing the "Blue room". The "Blue room" is a spare bedroom upstairs that we painted entirely sky blue. It is a lovely dormer room, with a nice view of the river and "beautiful downtown Rosenort". For the last six months this room has served as an oversize storage room for everything that had not yet found a place. We had satellite TV hooked up last week to the basement (which is not yet complete) and this room upstairs, which will eventually be home to a lovely futon. We wanted to be able to set up the futon and watch TV in there, but first, the cleanup. We made a few boxes, one for future dining room stuff, one for basement stuff, an MCC box, and a garage sale box, with a few other miscellaneous titles. Then began the sorting, disgarding and the ever-so-pleasant discoveries of items we'd already forgotten. It was a good time, even though it was work. While we were in there working on all this, Ryan had a moment of realization that this was our home, and here we were, a married couple, going through "our" stuff. It was a nice moment, and the comfort and security of it felt so wonderful. We enjoyed our afternoon together a lot. Ryan admitted that maybe cleaning up wasn't so bad afterall.

We've just been having such a weird Spring this year! Yesterday it was a gorgeous day. I'm sure it was probably at least +10 or higher. I was pumped - I wore a skirt to work, and when we sat outside at break without jackets on it felt fantastic. Well, I woke up this morning, and it's miserably cold and there is a light snow falling. Grrrrrr...
Wow, this is so cool. OKay, so now to think about what's been going on this week. Yesterday Ryan and his dad moved in my "new" fridge! I am quite happy with it. His parents just renovated their kitchen, and although their fridge was virtually brand new, they bought themselves a new one and donated theirs to our kitchen. Of course, when I came home at lunch the move was in progress, and that's always a little frightening. Our entrance is so tiny, and it was quite a chore to try to manouver the fridge in that space and dodge the stairs at the same time. I'm so glad I'm not a man!!! They finally got the new fridge in, the old fridge into the basement, and the deep freeze from the basement into the garage. What a job - and hardly any real damage done.
Well, ta-da! I finally did it! I created a Blog site. I'm quite excited, because I love reading other people's Blogs - no matter how boring or simple it may be. I hope you will enjoy getting these updates on our life. Enjoy!
