Action Packed Plett Life

Welcome to a day in the lives of our little Plett family...

Woohoo! The Pletts are now operating at HIGH SPEED. Hopefully this will encourage me to post here a little more now. Usually after posting on my Motherhood blog I would be too impatient to try to update Action Packed as well. Now it's just a breeze, I'm much enjoying the new connection.

Summer here has been flying by at an unreasonably hasty rate. In many ways we have done a lot, but at the same time it doesn't feel like we've done much at all. We haven't done any travelling or camping trips (yet) this summer. This is due to Ryan's busy and hectic work schedule, and partially due to my current "fatso" condition (aka. pregnancy). I am always boiling hot, and with the summer we've had it has just been too hot to spend a lot of time outdoors. On the bright side, we haven't had to mow the lawn much, and we've made good use of our air conditioning investment from last summer.

We just enjoyed a very nice long weekend. On Friday we were at the Bomber game, and although it was a stinker of a game, the evening was beautiful. It was so nice to enjoy the outdoors. Saturday morning we slept in, and then enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, followed by more laziness. Once the sun was going down, we lit up the fire pit and sat around and talked until after midnight. Sunday was much the same. We had church in the morning, and then spent the afternoon relaxing at home. We drove to Morris with Terrilee, Brent and Emery for supper, and then spent the rest of the night around their fire pit - again, until well after midnight. It was nice to have the extra day of holidays too. Monday was a nice day to stay inside, and Ryan caught up on some work. Later in the afternoon his parents called to invite us to have supper with them on Corydon in Winnipeg, which turned into a party with my mom, dad and Matt. Matt was celebrating his final paper being finished, so he can graduate with his degree in Business Management and Marketing in October. We are really proud of him! Way to go bro!

    Hey Heather,

Did Rosenort FINALLY get DSL service? I'm blown away that with all the big business in Rosenort, we can't get DSL hook-up, and yet smaller communities in Southern MB have been hooked up for the last few years already. I think there is a line-of-site high speed connection offered, but the overhead is ridiculously high. Do you know if this has been raised at the Chamber of Commerce meetings? How 'bout a petition in the Co-op!

Greg - No, we still have no DSL here. It totally blows, and I think MTS (or Shaw, or whomever) probably gets at least one inquiry a day about it from someone in town here. It has definately come up at Chamber meetings, but all we here is "we're working on it". So, Ryan and I are hooked up via a 'wireless' connection to Country Graphics - as it is in line-of-site of our place. Lucky us, we skip the monthly payments. The overhead was still pretty hefty however, as we had to pay for the installment and necessary devices. I am hoping to continue working for CG until the baby comes, and then afterwards as well - so hopefully it will be a good investment over time. Of course, now that we've done all that, DSL will be here tomorrow - and we still need to keep our dial-up account so Ryan can use the Internet on his laptop. (Another $200 and he could use the wireless connection, but I think the dial-up is only about $12/month).
